The Wurtsboro Fire Department Is All About Helping Our Community

In addition to the continuous professional training of our skilled volunteer firefighters and staff, and the maintenance of our state-of-the-art, life-saving devices and apparatus to help protect you and your properties; we also happily donate our time along with our WFD Auxiliary, to give to our community through the provision of the following community events and services. Events and services may vary from year to year:

Visit Schools for Fire Prevention.  Sponsor Athletic Teams.  The Annual Pancake Breakfast.  The Annual Breakfast With Santa.  Memorial Day Parade.  Annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.  Wurtsboro Founder’s Day Street Fair.  The Wurtsboro Spring Fling.  Bingo Night.  Halloween Night.  Scholarship Awards To Graduating Students.  Superbowl Party.  Penny Social.  DIY Craft Event.  Drive Around With Santa.  Special Birthdays.  Free Family Movie Night.  Other Community Events per our Calendar of Events.

 

The Firefighters Creed (anon, handed down)

OATH

I humbly serve as a Guardian to my community always ready to
respond to those who are unable to help themselves. I do not
advertise the nature of my work or seek recognition for my
actions. I voluntarily accept the inherent hazards of my profession
placing the welfare and security of others before my own.

PRAYER

When I’m called to duty God
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age

Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out

I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me
to guard my neighbor and
protect his property

And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife.
