The WFD Auxiliary
Our Mission
The mission of The Auxiliary of Wurtsboro Fire Company No. 1 is to assist the department, both socially and financially, whenever possible. The Auxiliary aims to promote harmony and good fellowship among members, and is committed to advancing the civil welfare of the community and our organization.
History of The Auxiliary of Wurtsboro Fire Company No. 1
The Auxiliary of Wurtsboro Fire Company No. 1 was established on July 29, 1968 by a small group of firemen’s wives. The wives felt there was a need to assist the fire department during fires of duration by providing refreshments, as well as aiding in fire relief matters.
Today, the Auxiliary continues to support our firefighters during emergency responses, training and social events. In order to raise needed funds the Auxiliary hosts several events each year such as: breakfast with Santa, bake sales, tricky trays, and paint & sips. We also keep busy by hosting or participating in free community events such as: parade marching, 9/11 tribute, Wurtsboro Founder’s Day, WFD Santa Express, and family movie nights.
